5 Health Tips For the New Year

1. Stay hydrated!

Hydration is required for all body systems (especially the brain) to function at optimal levels. I have many clients with chronic illnesses such as arthritis, fatigue and digestive complaints to improve their health by just drinking more water! Adults should drink 1.5 to 2 liters (8 to 12 cups) of PLAIN filtered water daily; Children should be encouraged to drink 1 liter (6 cups) a day. Drinks such as coffee, black tea, alcohol and soda have dehydration and should be taken in moderation (in the case of soda - avoid it completely). Extra Tip: Dip some lemon into a glass of water before breakfast to help detoxify your liver.

2. Eat Right for Your Blood Type

Many ways of eating have come and gone, but this is a diet that has been around for 40 years and is scientifically proven to have a positive effect on your health. The basic premise of the diet is that the four types of blood (O, A, B, AB) have evolved at various points in history and are thus best suited to the prevailing lifestyle of the time. The four blood types have various nutrients and training needs, pre-adjust to different types of diseases and respond differently to various foods. If you are trying to lose weight, lower cholesterol, eliminate allergy or have digestive complaints, depression, or try to conceive, a blood type diet is highly recommended.

3. Hire a Personal Trainer

We all want to make changes in the New Year - especially when it comes to our health and well-being. Exercise benefits every part of the body, including the mind. We all need some help with training sometimes, whether we are just starting out or have been doing it for a long time. Hiring a personal trainer that assesses your needs, helps instill discipline and keeps you motivated is a great idea and is worth the money. What you spend now becomes less valuable in the future in your healthcare. What is your health for you? Interview some coaches and ask for a trial session.

4. Sleep ZZZ

Not getting enough sleep can lead to accelerated aging, hormone and metabolism problems and mental breakdown. I can't stress to all my customers how important it is to sleep before 11pm. The body undergoes natural repairs and recovery cycles between 11pm and 1am; he needs to sleep before that time in order for the body to heal itself. How much sleep does it take? Most of us need at least 9 hours while some work well at 7. Watching TV and / or playing video games can stimulate the brain, making it harder to sleep - avoiding it before going to bed. Eating late at night can also interfere with sleep and cause digestive problems such as hypoglycemia (low blood sugar) which may indicate starvation and sleep disturbance throughout the night.

5. Emotional Detoxing - Body, Mind and Spirit

The start of the New Year can be a catalyst for a change in body, mind and spirit. How was last year for you? If you have severe stress with anxiety, fear and sadness - it's time to get emotional detox! The Chinese believe that emotions, if not properly processed, can be stored in the body's organs that cause illness and illness. Anger is stored in the heart, fear in the kidneys, sadness in the lungs and anxiety in the spleen. Fortunately there are many therapies that can help relieve our emotional stress including mental building, energy modalities such as BodyTalk, meditation and exercise.
