Weight Loss With the Nigerian Diet

You may find that here in Nigeria it is difficult to find the right kind of food to include in our diet because our food is not found on the web. The foods we eat help us lose weight and burn fat, and foods that should be avoided. In general, we will try to avoid foods that are simple in carbohydrates, and embrace those that are rich in protein.

However, below is a list of different foods to reduce your intake when trying to lose weight using the Nigerian diet. Note that I'm not saying you should stop taking it, but try to reduce it to the smallest amount possible! The nigerian diet is made up of many different types of foods, but most of our foods, especially for yorubas, oils, and starch!

Foods to reduce food intake in Nigeria include:

1. Crushed clock: popularly called that, contains many starch. Try reducing this intake.

2. Amala: made from the back of so many medicines.

3. Garri: just cereal flour! It is known as one of the major tumor promoters

4. Tuwo shinkafa: Pounded rice contains carbohydrates as white rice.

5. Soup: I recommend that you avoid Nigerian soup when you are trying to lose weight as it contains a lot of oil. However some soups such as okro soup, when cooked without oil can be great to include in your weight loss program using the Nigerian diet.

6. Ofada rice, white rice

7. Akpu, also another cassava product, is high in simple carbohydrates and its consumption should be reduced. Akpu is also known for promoting bulging tummies!

Please note that you should not eliminate the above carbohydrate foods from your diet, but try to reduce them as little as possible.

Foods to increase our intake include:

1. As always, Peanuts. It contains high amounts of protein, and good building blocks for muscles. They are also one of the fat burning foods

2. Fish: Fish have high protein content

3. Fruits: watermelons, apples, oranges, bananas, and so on

When I started my weight loss program it was a difficult task. Avoiding rice and rice is very important to me, but I know I need to do something about the stomach. so I stuck to eggs for breakfast, beans for lunch, vegetables for dinner, and fruits in between. those weeks seemed like the hardest times of my life, but in a short time, I started to see results!
