Who Can't Start A Paleo Diet

Pregnant, breastfeeding and young children will not benefit from the Paleo diet. Due to metabolic changes during pregnancy, the liver cannot tolerate high amounts of protein. Therefore, to prevent complications during pregnancy, pregnant women should not start or continue the Paleo diet until after delivery and breastfeeding. Infants and young children need less iron than the Paleo diet. Iron found in foods such as processed cereals is prohibited in the Paleo diet, but these foods contain nutrients that children need. Therefore, the Paleo diet is not suitable for infants and toddlers.
