Eggs - They may look impossible during pregnancy, but they are a great choice of high quality protein in pregnancy. Eggs have minerals and vitamins as well. As baby cells grow, protein is very important in the diet. Eggs also have choline that promotes overall growth and health of your baby's brain. Some have omega-3 fats that are great for vision and brain development. They may be high in cholesterol, but they are low in saturated fat, making them okay during pregnancy.

Sweetpotato - The orange color of sweet potatoes is from carotenoids and they help in meeting vitamin A when there is a lack of vegetables and fruits. Sweet potatoes are also high in vitamin C, fiber and folate making them very good during pregnancy.

Full grain - They contain nutrients such as selenium, phytonutrients and vitamin E and they are also high in fiber. There are so many options and you can experiment with them because you prefer to make delicious food that not only proves beneficial but also fun. You can go for anything from barley, oatmeal and even quinoa, which seems to have a lot of nutrients.

Dark green leafy vegetables - They include Swiss chard, kale, spinach and are all loaded with nutrients and vitamins C, K and A. Green leafy vegetables are also rich in folate which is very important during pregnancy. They make excellent food choices to promote eye health.

Fatless meat - It's a natural source of protein, but when buying red meat you need to make sure you get a fat-free cut. Pork and beef are among the best during pregnancy because their choline contains protein supplements. However, it is important to maintain deli meat and hot dogs because of the risk of releasing parasites and bacteria to infants. It's also a good idea to cook your own food for sure.
