Indigestion? 9 Foods to Avoid

Digestive problems can be painful, embarrassing, and if you have to keep buying over-the-counter drugs, it's expensive. You already know that! Do you ask for help from slipping nights, stomach cramps, wind, bloating, constipation - or other diarrhea? Of course you do!

Are you having a stomachache? The good news is that there is much you can do to relieve your pain, and like most problems, prevention is better than cure.

However - a word of caution - it's important to make sure you actually have digestive problems before you try to "treat yourself". Digestive symptoms can be similar to those you might have with heart disease.

If your digestive problems occur unexpectedly (which is for no real reason) and if you experience more episodes occasionally, you should visit your MD to get rid of possible heart problems.

Another problem with self-care is that some "counter" counters can actually exacerbate your pain, for example, by causing constipation. Examine the side effects of the medication or supplement you are taking - whether for digestive problems or other problems - but clearly do not change any prescribed medication without your doctor's approval.

Having satisfied yourself that your lack of exercise is not a bad symptom, let's look at some of the foods you can avoid to fix your problem. Here are 9 categories of foods and drinks commonly known to cause digestion:

  1. Avoid foods that cause wind, like beans and peas. This is hard to digest

  2. Avoid fats and fried foods as these digestions occur, prolonging your meal time in your stomach.

  3. Coffee, tea, alcohol and cola should be avoided - this is acidic, and of course an oily drink will boost any build up gas

  4. Peppermint tea can actually make your appetite worse. People often confuse it with ginger tea, which is soothing

  5. Symptoms are often cleared when allergic foods are avoided. Check food intolerance. There is a list of surprising foods that are involved in food intolerance, often including foods that you think are healthy (dairy, eggs, wheat, soy to name a few). That's why a man's flesh is another poison. The best way to check which foods are causing you problems is to have a food intolerance test, or simply remove them from your diet one hundred percent for a few weeks and see if your appetite improves.

  6. Avoid cow's milk products

  7. Red meat can be hard to digest

  8. Don't eat spicy food

  9. Avoid refined carbohydrates (e.g. 'white' products such as bread and cakes) - the same option is a better choice

You may not want, or need, to avoid all of the above, but a two-week trial exemption may prove that something is causing your problem.

The above list of things to avoid is a very negative sound, but actually relieves the pain and discomfort of not just avoiding food, there are many self-help tips that you can follow and there are fun eating plans that the whole family will enjoy, which will bring you relieve it quickly.
