Diarrhea in Puppies - Causes, Signs and Treatment

Puppy diarrhea is common but not negligible. Puppies are more sensitive to new diets, pressure to move to new homes, infections or viruses and especially parasites.

Inactivated larvae can be transmitted to puppies during pregnancy or during maternal treatment. Puppies also come in contact with parasites by eating something like bugs, mice or feces. Round worms, tapeworms, giardia and kokidia are common. Giardia and cocidia are not worms but microscopic organisms that infect the gut and can be transmitted to humans. Water contaminated by lakes and rivers and feces is the largest exposure segment, along with worms that spread worms or mosquitoes that can spread worms.

There may be signs of disease in adult dogs but puppies because of their weak immune system will show symptoms such as diarrhea, vomiting, blood stools, loss of appetite, weakness, bloated stomach or offspring and if they have egg worms appear in their stools or feathers. If the dog is vomiting and has diarrhea dehydration can happen quickly so it is important to see your veterinarian immediately.

At the age of two weeks, your puppy should be slaughtered and have a standard schedule for healing with your veterinarian. On the other hand if your puppy has giardia, fenbendazole or metranidazole will be given as this organism is not a worm, so worm medicine does not work. Sulfadimethoxine or Albon, trimethoprim-sulfadiazine and amprolium are commonly used in the treatment of cocidia.

To prevent animal contamination, you or your children should always keep food, water and bedding very clean. Make sure you use heartworm regularly and fleas. Make sure your pet's stool is removed and make sure you don't walk barefoot or let the kids play where your pet goes to the bathroom. Keep your dog in the yard when you cannot monitor him or her so that they do not eat or are exposed to mice or dead animals that can carry parasites and diseases.

If your pet does not have diarrhea because of parasites, you can hold solid food for at least 24 hours so that their intestinal tract can rest. Just make sure your dog has plenty of water or soup so that they do not become dry. After 24 hours introduce foods slowly only if they show signs of improvement. Chicken and chicken rice are very good and can be added gradually to their dry foods as their appetite increases.

Another good idea is to give your dog probiotics that can replace and retain beneficial bacteria to aid their digestion and intestinal tract, making them less susceptible to organisms. You don't need expensive or expensive probiotics; Dogs love chewable tablets found in most vitamin supplement stores.

There are also other holistic medicines for diarrhea in puppies such as plantains that help the digestive system and the mucous membranes or coat of women with impurities. These medicines are also very good to use when puppies are slaughtered as hard drugs that destroy good bacteria.
