Mickey Mehta's Quick Weight Loss Plan

He is the only special health auditor in India to be widely interviewed on almost all radio stations and TV channels. Here he talks about losing weight with a vegetarian diet. The following vegetarian diet plans are for rapid weight loss and should be followed under competent, authoritative and medical supervision. Follow this plan for 10 days with a maintenance diet at the end of the ninth day.

Day 1 and 2 3 to 4 fruits, vegetables (steamed / sautéed or cooked with less oil), salads, shoots, clear vegetable soup and green tea.

Day 3 and 4 6-7 oranges, 1 to 2 cups grapefruit juice, 3-4 cups of green tea and 1-2 teaspoons of honey (before exercising)

Day 5 Very warm cow's milk (5 to 6 cups) with a pinch of turmeric, 20 gms almonds, 20 gms walnut, 2-3 dates or figs, 2 to 3 teaspoons Isabgol, green tea or herbs.

Day 6 and 7 Fruit (3-4), mixed vegetable soup, 2-3 cups vegetable juice, green tea, 2 to 3 teaspoons Isabgol.

Day 8 and 9 Fruits in the morning followed by 2 or more bowls of vegetable soup, vegetable juice, shoots and salads.

Day 10 and beyond (followed by maintenance plan): Morning: Warm water with lemon, Green tea and fruits.

Lunch: 1 to 2 Millet Rotis (jowar, yeast or bacon) OR 1 cup brown rice with vegetables and dal.

Dinner: (7pm) Vegetable soup, steamed or sautéed vegetables and salad.

(Has some almonds and walnuts, about 3 to 4) with a cup of herbal tea or green tea in the evening around 5pm


Drink a lot of water

Avoid mangoes, bananas, grapes (all other fruits are allowed)

Avoid potatoes, beets, peas (all other vegetables are allowed)

Avoid white rice, bread, pasta

Use vegetables like celery, mint, coriander, cucumber, pumpkin, tomato and cabbage for vegetable juice

Dinner time should be between 7 and 7.30pm

Daily exercises - including cross training, walking and yoga

Rest for 1-2 hours in the afternoon and 7-8 hours in the evening.
