When you think about the best weight loss plan, do Weight Watchers, Slim Fast or NutriSystem remember? If so, you are not alone. Many people turn to the most popular weight loss programs to lose weight. That's great, but would you spend the rest of your life ordering prepackaged foods and expensive dietary supplements? I always stop to wonder what happens to most people when they stop using this diet plan. Are they able to maintain their ideal weight, or are they back where they started plus 20 pounds? I've found that there are more affordable ways to lose weight, and turn it off. You can create your own custom diet plan and submit your own requirements at a fraction of the cost.

Many of the foods you need to eat to lose weight are already available at your local grocery store. It's easy to pick your favorite fruits and vegetables. This should be 3/4 of each of your dishes. The other 1/4 is where you have to lean on protein. Think grilled chicken, fish, or roasted tofu or grilled chicken. As a side item, add high fiber foods such as wheat pasta, a slice of wheat bread, or brown rice.

Start exercising at least 3 to 5 days a week for 20 to 45 minutes. When you get used to a workout in a week or two, change your routine and try strength, yoga, or aerobic exercises. The more you can change your exercise routine, the less likely you are to hit the plateau. To help your body hydrate and recover, drink plenty of water, and get at least 8 hours of sleep at night.

Set a realistic goal of 1 to 3 pounds a week. Decrease your scale. As you start your diet and exercise plan, your weight will drop. Don't let this discourage you. I put my scale in the office closet where I didn't have to look. I let my clothes tell me how much progress I have made. Just staying on course and your best weight loss plan will definitely help you succeed.
