Baby Boomers - Age Gracefully - Without Spending a Fortune

When it comes to trying to stay young, we are bombarded with information. We hear it everywhere, new medical procedures to make us look younger, level our stomachs, lift this, the tuck, the list goes on and on. Don't let me start pharmaceuticals, if it is related to "staying young" there is a pill for everything and I mean everything.

This is the problem, all pills, injections, surgeries are quick fixes that will only make us "look" younger, all about what the world sees. But what about what we see?

I'm talking about self image. We cannot correct ourselves unless we take an active part in the process. What is my solution? Strength training of course.

I strongly believe that all of us can benefit from extra muscle. Muscles that will help keep us moving longer, muscles to allow us to enjoy our big kids and stay active for years to come.

To get started, you need to first (as always) consult your doctor. Get a complete physical exam and make sure your doctor understands what kind of training you are going to try. I also believe that you should take advice from others who have already done what you are trying to do. If you don't know anyone among you who does strength training, call around the local gym and see if they offer a program specifically for seniors.

Next, start slowly and keep up your pace over the next few months. It's better to take the blame for the cautious side here so it is to do more and risk injury.
