Do Ab Machines Provide The Best Abdominal Exercise?

Abdominal exercises for women and men are a hot topic today. TVs and magazines are full of ads promoting the benefits of training machines. They promise that your abs look like a model in the ad "with just a few minutes a day." But do they provide the best stomach exercises and do they really meet their demands? Popular Mechanics recently ran a feature article that explores some of the more popular models you can order. They tested seven different machines over a two-month period and made several revealing results.

Ab Test Engine:

Six of the seven machines used in the Popular Mechanics test are very similar in design (They are Ab Trainer, Ab Roller Plus, Ab Engraver, Ab Toner, Ab Blaster Plus Bodybuilder and Weider Ab Shaper.) on backward movements to work the abdominal muscles. The only exception to this type of ab engine is the one produced by Nordic Track called Ab Works. This is a rather heavy equipment that uses the principle of 'reverse crunch'. to operate. Instead of lifting the upper part of the body as in a normal workout, the back problem raises the knee to the chest, while maintaining the upper part of the body.

Do they work?

The point is yes - ab machines work, but they may not be demanding. They will certainly tighten and strengthen your muscles, but they will not reach the actual level (unless you are very thin to begin with.) Likewise, they will not do much to reduce the fat around your stomach. The American Council of Exercises also confirmed this. The study stated that the machines did not actually perform the normal training. However, ab machines provide your body with more support and can reduce the tension on your neck and back. They also make crunches a little easier, which is a benefit for those who are just starting out to exercise.

Conclusion:

If you have already purchased one of these machines, follow the recommended program. To see results you will need to do regular aerobic exercises such as walking or running fast to help burn fat and lose weight.

You may also need to go on a diet to reduce your calorie intake. Remember that ab exercises alone will not reduce your weight.

If you do not have an exercise machine there are many effective exercises that you can use to reduce your stomach. The link in the bio author at the bottom of this article will take you to a good site on the best abdominal exercises.
