Why "Holford", "Atkins" & "South Beach" May Have It Wrong!

"One size fits all"

Diet is coming ... diet is gone. Some diets work for some people ... and they don't work for others. Whether it's high protein, low fat, low carb, low GI or low GL ... if we don't learn it now ... there is no such "one-size-fits-all" diet.

To lose weight we need to consider that our dietary requirements are unique and to lose weight successfully, and in the long run, we need to find approaches to eating individually, and not generally.

Often new and exciting dietary trends are encouraged in the media. New authors promote new dietary teachings and trends, claiming to have the sole answer to permanent weight loss. But how often do we see popular authors come and go? ... replaced by a new author, a new diet ... or an existing author releases new books, a new revised theory.

If one thing is clear, it cannot be a nutritional solution that meets the needs and physical needs of everyone.

Some people respond positively to low-fat, high-carb diets, while others respond better to high-protein diets. Some people are unhealthy for a diet rich in grains, while others seem to find foods rich in complex carbohydrates.

So how do we find food that works?

"Find the right shoes"

The key is finding food that works for YOU.

There are many diets to choose from, but before deciding which ones to follow, it makes sense to consider your own "diet profile". While this is common, one can start with food allergy testing - to test for foods that cause allergic reactions.

But in a sense, most nutritionists know naturally that food causes a positive and negative reaction in their body. They also know which foods they cannot sacrifice or "avoid" for a long time, and it is here that the roots of finding a long-term eating plan are available.

Now, the basic premise also tells us that eating too many snacks and sugars is not the way to a successful diet or well-being, and while there are many conflicts in various popular approaches to diet, there are 5 major food groups where wage debate is concerned.

"The Big 5"

If we study different approaches to diet, we usually find that the point of difference lies in 5 separate food groups. Out of these 5 groups, although there are still points of difference, they are relatively small compared to the "Big 5".

This is:

of Starch & Grains

of Dairy

o Sugar

of Fat

o Meat

Fruits, vegetables and derivatives are rarely found, however, if there is a "dietitian" for which the author of popular diet trends may disagree, chances are found among the "Big 5".

We often hear about so many "problem foods" that we need to avoid, or even whole foods that we need to restrict, and for most nutrition, this may be true. But the key aspect that is often overlooked is that every diver who responds positively certain diets ... almost always have other diets that don't.

So whether the GL approach promoted in the latest "Holford Diet" or the ever-popular high protein approach as recommended in the "Atkins Diet" or maybe another new diet or a hybrid version of an existing diet, no matter how scientific, may not be the same weight and diet solution for everyone.
