What Are the Basic Components of a Healthy Diet?

Everyone wants to eat a balanced diet and good nutrition; However, not too many people really know what a healthy diet should consist of. For example, what percentage of our daily diet needs carbohydrates? Do we need to take any fat? What exactly is the food pyramid that represents? These are just a few questions that many people have started before starting a healthy diet.

When it comes to fast weight loss or healthy eating, there are many rules and regulations. There are many foods that we need to eat and certain foods that we need to explain, which is why it is sometimes difficult for the average person to make the most satisfying diet. A healthy diet should consist of 45-65% carbohydrates, 10-35% protein, and 20-35% fat (10% saturated fat and 0% trans fat). The best way to find out how to get a bunch of foods is to look closely at the food pyramid. Each part of the pyramid represents a specific group of foods. The base of the pyramid represents the grain group. These are better known as carbohydrate-rich foods, such as bread, cereals, rice and pasta. On average, adults should take 6-11 servings of cereal daily.

The next portion of the food pyramid represents fruits and vegetables. Our daily intake should consist of 3-5 servings of vegetables and 2-4 servings of fruit. This particular part of the pyramid is especially important for those who are trying to lose weight and increase their intake of vitamins, minerals and fiber. The third staple represents proteins, such as dairy products, meat, poultry, fish, nuts, eggs, and nuts. 2-3 servings should come from a batch of milk and 2-3 servings of meat, eggs, or nuts. And last but not least is the top level pyramid which is made up of fat, oil, and candy. This particular food group should be consumed with caution. These are just some of the basic components of a healthy diet.
