5 Reasons Why Losing Weight Isn't Always Easy

We all know that maintaining a healthy weight is essential to good overall health. Why, then, lose weight and shift the extra pounds we use so hard? After all, getting them is a little easy!

Of course, being responsible for our own choices is important, but you may be surprised that some of the things you experience daily can actually sabotage you if you do not realize it.

Reason 1: Finding the right diet is not always easy.

Whether high in carbohydrates, high in fat, low in fat or high in protein, the diet options are wide. Reality is not one of these types of diet necessarily better than others. At the end of the day, burning more calories than you eat will result in weight loss and consuming more calories than your body needs will result in weight gain, regardless of the source of those calories. For optimal health though, you need to maintain a balanced diet long term.

Reason 2: Mixed messages from newspapers

Shiny magazines, usually aimed at women, are known for featuring articles on the latest trends for fast or fast weight loss. It is also easily confused by the endless number of weight loss studies in the news, many of which contradict one another. Try to ignore fads and whatever looks sensational. Common sense must always prevail.

Reason 3: Well-intentioned family and friends can do more harm than good.

Our loved ones tend to be mean, but they can't give you a favor when they insist that we have "just one more" especially when you're focused on losing weight. It is difficult to maintain the power of your will in the face of such temptations. The best approach is to deal directly with your loved ones. Let me know you need their support much more than you need. A cheat day schedule to coincide with special occasions like birthdays and the like can often help keep everyone in the family happy.

Reason 4: Food companies are not always on your side

We all lead a busy lifestyle, so it's no surprise that sometimes we choose to eat for convenience. However, fast food outlets and restaurants can be a dangerous place for people who are watching their weight. Most fast-food or take-out foods are high in fat and sodium and have no real nutritional value. Try to cook your own food from all the foods possible. Keeping processed foods to a minimum will improve your health and wallet.

Reason 5: Change in behavior can be hard work.

In the end, it takes time and effort to transition into a healthy lifestyle. When you first start your weight loss journey, you may feel a bit like a tough battle when you struggle with unhealthy years. It is said to take 21 days to make or break a habit so be sure to stick to it. Make small changes and gradually increase your chances of success.

Remember, the key to continuous weight loss is to burn more calories than you eat, eat a well-balanced diet and exercise regularly for optimal health. Make sure any changes you make are sustainable, not quick fixes.
