How Ginger Fights Body Odor

You may have been told that ginger is one of the foods you should avoid if you want to fight body odor. But this can't be further from the truth, because ginger, along with other healthy foods can help you fight body odor once and for all.

Ginger is a spicy root originally from Asia, but because of its health benefits, and the use of other cuisines, it is grown in many of the warmer parts of the world. Fresh ginger is available all year long at most grocery stores.

What Causes the Body Odor

To understand how ginger can help you fight body odor, you need to understand what caused it in the first place. Body odor is associated with sweating, but sweating alone cannot make you smell funny. The reason bad smell occurs when you sweat is because sweat brings toxins in your body to the surface of your skin, and therefore it is the toxin that causes the odor, not the sweat.

How Ginger Helps

Ginger is a high antioxidant that helps the body release toxins so it can be eliminated. Then to help your body get rid of these toxins, Ginger helps your body break down the sweat, so that it can be removed through your skin. So if you are toxic, and you eat ginger, you will notice a temporary increase in your body odor.

So if you're out for the evening, and need to smell the best, then you better not eat ginger that day.

However, if you continue to consume ginger and avoid other toxic foods such as fast foods, processed foods, high-fat foods and sugars, you will begin to see a decrease in your odor. You will notice a slight increase in body odor each time you take in the ginger, until your body is released from toxins.

How To Use Ginger

One way to use ginger is to add it to your diet. You can make ginger tea, add ginger to salads and salad dressing, stir-fries and just about any dish you can think of.

You can also use grated ginger in your bath to promote sweating and speed up the detoxification process. After a bath or shower, take some fresh ginger juice and apply it to your armpits to help neutralize toxins.
