Gluten Free Diet & Food Allergies

If you experience uncontrolled sugar cravings and unusual symptoms, you may be the victim of hidden food allergies. Gluten intolerance and hidden food allergies or sensitivity to common foods actually lead to cravings for these foods, and a host of other symptoms.

What is Food Allergy?

Food allergies are more common than people think. In a recent survey of nearly 1,000 U.S. physicians, it is estimated that between 12 and 19 percent of adults and 15 to 21 percent of babies have food allergy. These numbers are considered higher because many doctors do not have training in food allergy and do not know how to diagnose them.

Let's discuss exactly what food allergies are, and what they're not. The term food allergy comes from two Greek words "also" (other) and "argon" (action). When you eat something you are allergic to, you have a different reaction than you expect.

Poor food allergy has a direct and severe effect on the immune system. For example, many have a severe allergy to peanut products. When they pick up nuts, or anything with nuts in them, they immediately react. These reactions can range from swelling and swelling, to closing the throat. Peanut allergy can also cause skin irritation.

Allergies always affect the main organs that are not involved in digestion, such as breathing, skin or brain. If you eat something and have digestive problems afterwards, then you have technically been intolerant of the food. People who cannot eat dairy products without severe cruelty have an intolerance to dairy.

When your body is allergic to food, it reacts to allergens present in the food. When food, or protein in food, enters the body, your antibodies come to "rescue." Your body feels it is being attacked and antibodies are there to protect your immune system. Antibodies cannot tell the difference between proteins and food proteins from viruses. They react to food proteins as if they were viruses. Combat begins between allergens and antibodies, and as a result the histamine is released into the bloodstream. Histamines are chemical products of microscopic explosions between allergens and antibodies.

Reactions can include: rash, runny nose, swelling and watery eyes and diarrhea. This is a typical allergic reaction. There are some reactions caused by foods you eat that you are unaware of are allergic. Food allergy has been identified in over 80 different medical conditions including (but not limited to) arthritis, asthma, autism, addictive cravings, insomnia, psoriasis and insulin-based diabetes.
