 Obesity increases postoperative complications

Obese people are 12 times more likely to have side effects and complications if they have surgery compared to people with moderate weights, a medical study has warned.

Researchers at Johns Hopkins University and research supervisors explained that the length of surgery between obese people and the depth of surgery to reach the surgical site due to the accumulation of fat in the body of the obese exposes it to suffering from side effects and complications of surgery. Research was conducted on 403,203,000 obese people and about 597,000 moderate-weight people from 2002 to 2006. The follow-up indicated that approximately 18.3% of obese people who underwent surgery experienced complications compared to about 2.2% of moderate weight.
