Scientists: The Link of Birth Control pills to weight gain from myths

A scientific study confirming that the pill is not associated with weight gain by researchers from the Oregon National Institute of Health and Science sits in the journal Human Cloning.

"When we do a little google search on contraception, we discover that there is a possibility that it may cause the body to gain weight, which is the subject of a controversial debate," says Dr. Allison Adelmar.

"Weight issues are difficult to study in humans, and research so far has not been enough to prove whether oral contraceptives first cause weight gain or loss, but there is a very important question that is more equal to her anxiety about being overweight, which is why women stop N birth control which in turn puts her at greater risk of getting an unplanned pregnancy?"

Researchers have spent nearly a year studying some monkeys in Oregon at the National Research Center, because monkeys with a wide range of variables can be more accurate, measured and controlled.

Half of the monkeys were in their normal weight and the other half were obese, so when this study began they were given pill doses according to their body weights and semi-human match as much as possible, and were monitored for 8 months, and the researchers collected data on the amount of food animals and levels of physical activity Muscle size and body fat mass.

The researchers found that monkeys that were of normal weight remained the same as obese monkeys, lost on average about 8.5% of their body weight and lost 12% of their body fat and did not find notices of change on muscle mass and physical activity.

Dr. Judy Cameron says: "This study suggests that fears of being overweight with the use of birth control pills seem to be more fantasy-based than reality, and in addition there may be a difference that affects from the beginning on your weight, the heaviest individuals are the ones who maintain their diet, may testify Stability and weight loss with the pill, and the reason for this belief still exists, what causes weight gain is what happens with the age of these drugs.

We are well aware that research from non-human beings cannot completely rule out the relationship between contraception and weight gain, but strongly suggests that women should not be as concerned as they were before."
