 Red chili helps burn calories

A recent U.S. scientific study has shown that eating chili at moderate rates can help burn calories and reduce appetite, especially among people who are not used to eating it.

The study included 25 people of normal weight, including 13 "harragas" and 12 who were not usual to eat, and the researchers added a dash of chili powder, one at a rate of 1.8 grams and the other at a rate of 0.3 grams per day on their food and for six weeks.

The researchers found that capsaicin, which gives peppers the stinging taste, increased the body's basic heat during digestion for all participants, which means burning more calories.

The researchers noted that people who are not accustomed to eating chili peppers have benefited from its characteristic, which helps to feel full, as their appetite for fatty, sweet and savory foods has declined, according to cnn.

"Eating less than a teaspoon of chili powder has contributed to calorie insinuation and reduced appetite," said Richard Metz, a professor of food and nutrition at The University of Broadway, Indiana.

Consumption of a moderate amount of chili, a healthy diet and regular exercise swelled will reveal long-term sustainable benefits, the study said.
