Fat may come back after liposuction surgery

Medical research conducted in the United States has shown that fat that has been eliminated by liposuction surgery may return shortly after surgery.

Robert Ekel, professor of obesity surgery at the University of Colorado, warned that fat may return within a year of surgery, explaining that fat does not return to places where fat has been suctioned, but elsewhere.

The researchers explained in their research that women, for example who have undergone liposuction surgeries from the areas of the abdomen, buttocks and lower body, have been observed to return fat again, but in the upper parts of the body such as the upper abdomen.

This comes at a time when statistics released by the American Cosmetic Surgery Friday indicate that there were about 203,000 liposuction surgeries performed in the United States in 2010, an increase of 2% over the previous year.
